Ancient and comforting, this warm milk infused with turmeric, ginger, and spices is a slow living night time ritual. I like it at night, when the body wants to soften and the mind needs a signal that the day is ending.
ingredients
2 cups homemade almond or coconut milk for dairy-free)
1 tsp ground turmeric
½ tsp ground cinnamon
¼ tsp ground ginger (or a few thin slices fresh)
Pinch of black pepper
1–2 tsp honey or maple syrup
Optional: pinch of cardamom or nutmeg
method
In a small saucepan, whisk together milk, turmeric, cinnamon, ginger, and black pepper.
Warm gently over medium heat until steaming but not boiling. Stir often.
Remove from heat. Taste for sweetness and stir in honey or maple syrup.
Pour into a mug and sprinkle with a little extra cinnamon or nutmeg if you like.
