letter to all readers
discourses on slow living, clarity, and joy for those seeking a more intentional and purposeful life from the daughter of a healthcare diplomat
Dear Readers,
If you, like me, have been trying to incorporate slow and deep living into your life —this space is for you. We’re all told to take care of our health, our heart, even our mind. But the soul often gets left behind, sometimes not even making the list. The Slow Philosophy is a way to bring the soul back onto our docket.
When I read Viktor Frankl’s Man’s Search for Meaning, I learned that people who had a rich inner life—whether it’s books, music, poetry, art, nature, imagination—often survived longer than those who didn’t, even beating those with stronger physique. Having time for an inner life is a privilege, and it can be hard to make space for it. But I’ve also come to believe that no matter where we are, strengthening our inner life makes us more resilient.
For me, that means choosing one classic book to savor and finishing it, even if it takes a year. Listening to an artist’s entire body of work. Paying close attention when watching a movie, or cooking and eating a slow meal on a beautiful plate. Being enriched by what we do no matter how hard everything might be.
The Slow Philosophy is something you have to practice, and I’m still learning as I go. If you subscribe, my hope is to help you live a slower, deeper life alongside me.
Here’s what you’ll get from me:
Essays and discourses on deep, meaningful living
Practice tips and rituals on slow living
Curated lists for slow living
These are practices I’ve woven into my own days, and they’ve changed the way I live and breathe. It’s a joy to share them and enrich my own learning, and I hope you’ll join me in this journey.
Best,
Tulipe
